Thursday: Training Berners (Intro)

We have been learning so very much with Obie, I thought I would share some of it with you all!  He is a wonderful dog, but we have been learning that training a Bernese Mountain Dog is very different from training a retriever/service dog!  Fortunately we have a bevy of wonderful trainers at our local AKC obedience club who are always willing to give us help or direct us to someone who knows what they're doing.  So I'm thinking about doing a weekly series on what we have learned/are learning with Obie.  Some of it will be old stuff to most of you, but we all need reminders every now and then, right?  ;)  And I think some of it may be new to most of you as well.  As always, we appreciate comments and learning about how you work with your dogs--Berners or not!  Next week we will start with the topic of socialization! (that should be fun with all our service-dog-in-training friends.)
